UH, and healthcare in general, has been affected by escalating costs, high inflation rates, a national workforce shortage, and lower than expected patient volumes, resulting in negative margins for many. Fortunately for our institution, our UH caregivers are excellent at problem identification and creatively solving for these issues. We know we need to both grow via revenue generation, while thoughtfully reducing costs to increase efficiency. We know we need to find additional revenues next year on top of our back to budget commitment.

We are calling on all UH physicians, and our business partners to submit ideas for how we can grow revenue or potentially reduce costs, while solving for unmet clinical needs and increasing efficiency. We encourage you to look at processes, functions, products, and anything else that you do or have been using in your role and find ways to do it better, more effectively.  The goal is to add revenue currently not in the system and to eliminate excess costs without impacting the high quality and safe care we are known to deliver.

  • Each proposal needs to either result in a net income growth of at least $1M or a net savings of the same.
  • Proposals are due by March 10, 2023.
  • Recognition will be given to any selected ideas and submitters if a pilot is operationalized.
  • Please submit via the form below.

A group of stakeholders including physicians, leadership and business partners will review these ideas. The top ideas will then have the opportunity to be presented or “pitched” by their submitters to the Department Chairs. The best of the best will be submitted to senior leadership for their consideration. This process is in parallel but distinct to the UH caregiver expense reduction project which is currently closed to further submission.
