Health Voyagers Series | Call of the Wild: Biomimicry for Healthcare Innovation
Cleveland Museum of Natural History
Friday, August 16, 2019
Given the success of the inaugural event–”Episode 1: Startups vs. The Opioid Crisis,” UH Ventures is eager to present Episode 2 of its Health Voyagers Series. “Call of the Wild: Biomimicry for Healthcare Innovation” will introduce participants to an emerging innovation paradigm that involves seeking inspiration from biology’s time-tested strategies to solve technical and social challenges of varying scale (think VELCRO, inspired by burrs; or decentralized organizations, inspired by insect colonies). This educational event will highlight biomimicry examples relevant to the healthcare industry – including products and services implemented by established companies and in development by startups – as well as give attendees a few tools for observing nature in a way that inspires innovation. Following a suspenseful drum roll, UH will unveil a new wayfinding app inspired by turtle navigation. Subject matter experts from The University of Akron’s Biomimicry Research and Innovation Center (BRIC) and Great Lakes Biomimicry (GLB) co-designed this event and look forward to welcoming you into the fascinating world of biomimicry!
