First Response for Sports Trauma

The First Response for Sports TraumaTM (FRSTTM) course, developed by Robert Flannery, MD and the of the University Hospitals Sports Medicine Institute, is designed to provide EMS professionals the skills required to cover sporting events and treat athletes in the events of sudden cardiac arrest, heat illness, sickle cell disease, and concussion.

Dr. Flannery has been working closely with UH Ventures to deploy FRSTTM beyond Northeast Ohio. The shared vision is to establish and build a course that can be replicated across the nation to prepare communities, schools and sports teams to consistently and expertly respond to trauma on the field of play.
